Holiday Happenings in Montecito ~ Celebrating 75 Years of Montecito Shining Bright
As we mark the Montecito Association’s 75th anniversary, we’re thrilled to bring our community together for a holiday season filled with joy, remembrance, and tradition. This year's theme, Montecito Shining Bright, celebrates our community's spirit, resilience, and commitment to keeping our traditions alive.
Here’s a look at this season’s festive events:
Hathaway Tree Decorating
December 4th, 3-4 PM
Kick off the holiday season with the annual Hathaway Tree Decorating at the corner of School House Road and San Ysidro Road. Join the Montecito Association and the Montecito Firefighters for this beloved tradition and add your touch to the tree as we celebrate the season of giving.
Light Up a Life - Hospice Tree
December 5th, 4 PM
Gather for an evening of remembrance and tribute. This meaningful event allows us to honor loved ones who are missed, filling the tree with symbols of light and love. Star sales and music will start at 5pm, at The Corner Green (Corner of San Ysidro & East Valley Road, in front of Pierre Lafond). The program will start 30 minutes later, at 5:30pm and end at 6pm.
Coast Village Road Holiday Event
December 7th, 4PM - 6PM
Join in creating unforgettable memories and immerse yourself in the joy of Christmas on Coast Village Road! The holiday event promises an evening filled with vibrant performances by the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony and The Adderley School. A festive evening of Hot Chocolate, Candy Canes, and delightful treats await to add a dash of sweetness. Experience the magic as Santa lights up the tree and gathers heartfelt letters from our local children.
All Saints By-the-Sea Christmas Festival & Tree Lighting
December 8th, 4PM - 6PM
This family-friendly Christmas celebration will be packed with holiday cheer and activities for all ages. Gather around for the tree lighting and enjoy classic caroling, delicious treats, and seasonal entertainment. Highlights of the evening include a petting zoo for little animal lovers, free cookies and hot chocolate to keep you cozy, craft stations for making holiday keepsakes, and a special visit from St. Nicholas himself!
Holiday Magic Car Parade & Sip & Shop
December 14th
Sip & Shop: 3 PM - 5 PM
Car Parade: Around 4:30/5 PM
The holiday magic begins with a special Sip & Shop event in the Upper Village from 3 PM to 4:30/5 PM. Local shops will be open with special offers, refreshments, and holiday cheer—making it the perfect time to find unique gifts while supporting our local businesses. Afterward, at around 4:30/5 PM, the Holiday Magic Car Parade will roll through Montecito, bringing cheer along its route. Decorate your vehicle or simply enjoy the festive sights as the parade passes by. Register your car and be part of the magic that lights up our streets! (we have a limited number of cars, get your spot now!)

Menorah Lighting Ceremony
December 26th, 4 PM
Join us on the Corner Green for a celebration filled with warmth and community spirit. Enjoy latkes, donuts, live music, arts and crafts, and entertainment for all ages. This Menorah Lighting Ceremony is a reminder of the light we bring to the world, together.
Each of these events reflects our 75-year tradition of community, connection, and celebration. Let’s make Montecito shine even brighter this holiday season!

This is a vehicle-only parade. We are limited to 30 entries, and slots tend to go fast!
All entries must be very well lit. Sound systems playing music also appreciated! Dress up and be merry!

It takes a village to pull off a parade. We welcome your sponsorship, and have many convenient levels to choose from. A parade entry is included for the Magic Elf & Bright Starlight sponsors. And, Community Spirit Brighteners, Magic Elves and Bright Stalights are invited to our parade after-party, where you will be thanked personally. Sponsors are also thanked publicly to our membership and in the pages of the Montecito Journal.
